NEW: Industrial Hemp Resolution Introduced to Michigan House Committee on Commerce!
This is important news for the hemp community. It is urgent that YOU make a difference by contacting your MI State Representative to encourage them to adopt House Resolution 0314-2010, should it pass their desk.
You can find out who your representatives in Michigan's legislature are by going to VoteSmart.org and typing in your ZIP Code:
"This is a step in the right direction," states Everett Swift, MI-HEMP's Executive Director, referring to the wording of the Resolution, which is an encouragement to the Federal government to recognize hemp as a valuable resource and prevent DEA intereference into states attempting to expand their agricultural base.
"The Commerce Committee of Michigan's House [of Representatives] is composed of members representing districts hit hard by the economic downturn. A growing community of activists are realizing the agricultural, environmental, commercial and industrial benefits of expanding this commodity," writes Paul Pearson, Communications Director of MI-HEMP, who authored a study [available here] on the current and possible future of hemp and it's use in Michigan's automotive industry.
